My dogs absolutely these treats. This recipe only calls for 4 ingredients so it is so easy to whip up, and not to mention easy clean up! Because of this awesome fact, I make these treats all the time. It saves time going to the grocery store, not to mention money!
Dog treats can be pretty pricey, but your friendly friend definitely deserves the best! So why not make your own treats, too?
When I make these for my pups they cant' get enough. I like to make mine bone shaped because I found these amazing doggy-bone cookie cutters at the thrift store (unsurprisingly, this is what inspired me to make my own dog treats in the first place!). When winter rolls around I break out my snowman and snowflake shaped cookie cutters. Use whatever shaped cookie cutter you have on hand or like!
This recipe calls for regular flour. If your dog happens to have a grain allergy - which is very common, I suggest substituting flour with coconut flour or something similar.
Ingredients:
2/3 Cup Pumpkin Puree
1/4 Cup Peanut Butter
2 Large Eggs
3 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
2. Using an electric mixer, beat pumpkin puree, peanut butter and eggs on medium-high until well combined, about 1-2 minutes
3. Gradually add 2 1/2 cups flour at low speed, beating just until incorporated. Add an additional 1/4 cup flour at a time just until the dough is no longer sticky
4. Lay the dough out on a lightly floured surface. knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together
5. Using a rolling pin, bring the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness and use your desired cookie cutter to cut your dog treats out of the dough
6. Place your shapes onto the lined baking pan and bake approximately 20-25 minutes until the edges are golden brown. (NOTE: Baking time varies slightly depending on the thickness of the dough and the size of the cookie cutter)
7. Allow to cool completely
Your furry friend is going to love these treats! They whip up in no-time and are guaranteed to make those tails wag. Remember, you can substitute self rising flour with coconut flour.
